How aware are you of your Duty of Care to your employees?
In a recent case in the QLD Supreme Court, the employer’s Duty of Care has once again been brought to the forefront and the courts have reinforced the Duty of Care owed to employees by their employers.
The work injury sustained in this instance was found to have been caused by negligence. In addition to this it was also found, that the injury was reasonably foreseeable and could have been prevented.
The damages awarded are substantial, in excess of $1 million, something which most employers would not have available to pay.
